Mary is 54 years old, and began to experience fatigue and weakness. She complained of poor concentration, general aches and pains and was craving more food and coffee to feel ‘ up ‘.   This was a new to her, and she attributed these new sensations as just getting ‘older’.

Someone mentioned to her that it sounded like she needed to do a “ detox diet “, so she read up on the concept. The expert in the area is Dr. Sheri Rogers, M.D. who’s book “ Tired or Toxic “ is the popular primer on how eating a limited food diet for a week to ten days ( bland foods, easy to digest foods, shakes, steamed vegies, water ) gives the body a chance to cleanse itself, basically to catch up on its' back log of detoxification duties. Such as clearing internal liver and cellular toxins/ mucous, waste build up and more..

Leaving one feeling energetic and refreshed and generally free of the signs of 21st Century eating. In reading the book, one is left with the impression that our bodies are simply overwhelmed by impurities in our food, air and water. This accumulation is what may cause inflammation, tiredness, headaches, accelerated aging and more. According to Dr. Rogers, we can “ ramp up “ our bodies detoxification system by temporarily eating bland food food and focusing on vegetables, proteins and water.

The idea is to eat foods your body utilizes for detoxification.

Steamed deep rooted cruciferous vegetables are the suggested food choices. Broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, spinach, beets, zucchini, peas, onion, garlic, brussel sprouts, kale. These foods contain the phyto ( plant ) chemicals and trace minerals our bodies need to detoxify. If our diets are “ low “ on these foods, consistently, the toxins build up, as the nutrients it needs to cleanse are missing. Resulting in many common complaints we associate with aging.

Try it for yourself for a week and find out for yourself.

Ideally lightly grilled salmon, baked fish, hard boiled eggs, protein shakes. Try to eat ½ as much protein as you normally intake to help your bodies energies focus on cleansing.

Broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, spinach, beets, zucchini, peas, onion, garlic, brussel sprouts, kale, cabbage, mushrooms, As much as you can eat. Dress with lemon, olive oil.

Yes it may sound boring. That’s the point. You are giving your body a break from 21st Century food variety overdose, and helping your body to initiate a biological inner washing. A very good thing to do!

Eliminate: Sugars, breads, cheeses, canned, pre-cooked, packaged, frozen foods. Limit caffeine to one serving a day if possible. Alcohol limit to zero if possible. ( This is only for a week remember )
The results will speak for themselves, in addition to….you will learn you can CONTROL your body and it’s appetites, and it does NOT have to control you. A good lesson to learn.
